More from the land of the Turks

We had a really busy day yesterday. We walked across the Galata Bridge to the Galata Tower and up to a very cosmopolitan shopping area. It was a bit of a challenge for Cedar. But, he has charmed some of the female students into carrying him anytime he wants:) The Turks are quite fascinated with Cedar's hair. It is so curly in this climate. We had a rough night sleeping last night (there was a lot of drama in the middle of the night). Why can't they just go to bed? So, today was a mellow day. We went to the Haga Sofia this morning which was totally amazing. It's such an interesting mix of West and East--Islam and Christianity. I was overwhelmed by the fact that I was actually visiting the place I studied in so many different classes (during my brief stint as a Near Eastern Studies major). Cedar loved the Haga Sofia as well. He learned what a mosaic is. He is a good kid. Well, needs to send some emails to his "Photog" friend so I will write more later.
I saw the picture on the other blog of Cedar feeding the pigions and realized I have a similar picture of him doing the same thing in Mexico. Pigeons (and our need to feed them) seem to be universal throughout the world.
I too have been struck by the fact that you are in a place that I really have read so much about, in both history and in many novels.
I loved the picture of the spice market too. Food must be so much more interesting there.
Our love to all of you.
You suck. Haga Sophia, eh??? I must admit that I am JEALOUS! It sounds like you're having a great time. I made the picture of Cedar with the pigeons the background on my computer. He looks like such a little boy; somewhere in my brain I still see him as a toddler. Sorry about the drama! It's just a given at this point, right? Keep posting! Oh, by the way, Mike has added your blog to his "Google Reader" which means that he gets notified every time you post; he thinks he's pretty cool cause he gets to read your posts before I do :). Love you! Tell Jenni Benni Hi for me!
